SINOCOAL INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERING DESIGN AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE.

SINOCOAL INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERING DESIGN AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE—also known after reorganization as China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Beijing Huayu Engineering Co., Ltd. (BHEC)—is a large-scale consultancy enterprise in China’s coal engineering sector. Its predecessors include the Beijing Coal Design & Research Institute and the Coal Preparation Design & Research Institute of the Ministry of Coal Industry.

The institute specializes in mine-field planning, engineering survey and design for coal mines and coal preparation plants, and the engineering of slime/reject-fired power plants and coal-water-fuel (CWF) plants. It also undertakes project construction on an EPC basis and provides operation management services for the projects it delivers.

With a technical team of 955 engineers and technicians—including state-level design masters, professor-level engineers, and a substantial senior engineering group—the organization supports end-to-end project execution from planning and design through delivery and operation. It also carries out technical R&D, technical assignment, consultation, training, and a full range of technical services across coal industry, power generation and supply, construction, public utilities, and environmental fields.

As a long-standing consultation agency for the central government in the coal industry, the institute has contributed to major sector planning and standards development. Its project track record includes mine-field planning, EPC delivery for coal preparation plants, engineering design for mines and preparation plants, as well as power plants and CWF projects, alongside numerous municipal, communication, and civil/industrial building projects.
